The Regulations bit…

At This Is Not A Screening!, we believe in coming together, and fostering community with a view to promoting conversation, and the sharing of ideas and opinions in real time in an encouraging atmosphere. To do this, we strictly have it as an in-person event only.

About the Projects… The idea of this pop up event is to show work-in-progress projects that are currently in the filming or post production process (i.e., colouring, editing, etc). This can ben anything from a 1 minute excerpt or piece of raw footage that reflects what you are trying to capture and communicate, to a (max) 15 min scene or a rough cut. With this in mind, other pieces of media like scripts, mood boards, etc. are not permitted.

Not a pitch, just a conversation… This isn’t a professional consultation event, but about the sharing of ideas and reflecting. After showing your project, you will have the floor to have a discussion with the audience and see how it connects to the audience. How it feels, what it evokes, what kind of impact or impression it leaves. None of this is in the judgemental sense, but more in the supportive dialogue sense. Good, clean and organic.

A sense of time… Each artist is given 25 mins. What this means, is that you may show up to 15min of footage, with the remaining 10 minutes for group discussion and / or questions. But here’s the good bit, there is no minimum length. What does that mean? It means you can show a 1 or 2 min piece, with the rest of the time being yours to focus on conversation, and who knows, maybe spark some ideas

Creative responsibility…. This is a space for collaborating, sharing and exchanging ideas openly and comfortably. Whilst we wholeheartedly value this and trust within our community, it’s tricky to guarantee the confidentiality of shared ideas.

…and the dreaded Copyright bit… As we are all well aware, copyright can be a real thorny area to navigate. With that in mind, we strongly recommend that participants ensure they have all necessary rights and permissions in place for any materials they present, as we cannot and will not assume responsibility for any type of copyright ownership or infringement.
